The Lofta trail (Loftaleden) is 20 km long and starts and finishes at Lofta Church. You are guaranteed a varied landscape, with agricultural land and forests, and the terrain is hilly and has steep cliffs. You will be able to make good use of both your camera and binoculars.

The trail begins at Lofta Church, which dates back to 1837, and is one of Sweden’s largest rural churches. The trail then continues past one of the many petroglyphs you will see along the trail. One of these petroglyphs is Utrikesstenen (an ancient stone monument), which has unique inscriptions on it, including a man ploughing with a horse, sun symbols, ships and ring marks. Several sights worth seeing that you will encounter along the trail include a large cairn from the Bronze Age, a field of stones and a shingle beach from the Ancylus period (700 BC). The trail also offers several resting areas. You can pick up your copy of the booklet called "Vandra i Västervik" at Västervik Tourist Center for more information and a map of the trails.
