Tjustleden, Stage 8 Björndalen–Möckelhult–Lermon

Date: Friday 3 jun 2016 - Wednesday 5 Sep 2018 Show map

Tjustleden is a hiking trail which meanders throughout the whole of Västervik municipality. The total length of the trail is 203 km, and it is divided up into nine stages. Tjustleden offers the hiker a varied and beautiful terrain through forests and cultivated land.

The eighth stage is approximately 15 km long and is rather hilly, as it crosses rift valleys. Three hundred metres from the shelter in Björndalen is a mineshaft, which is called ‘Björndalens skärpning’. The trail then continues on an old carriageway up behind the steep hill at Stora Vrången, where there are several opportunities to take in some excellent views. You then pass Överrumsanslutningen, a trail which is approximately 7 km long. If you continue on to Tjustleden, you pass through a deciduous forest with large trees. When you get to Botorp you will encounter a vibrant agricultural landscape. As you make your way towards the end of this stage of the trail at Lake Lermon, where there are shelters and a bathing area, the rest of the terrain is easy.
